iPads

Bethel School District provides every student with an iPad. iPads are assigned by the school the student is attending. Students transferring schools (i.e. Spanaway Lake to BVA) must return their iPad to the previous school, and will receive a new iPad from BVA.

Required Forms

The Hold Harmless and iPad Coverage forms are required before students can be given an iPad. Both forms are linked in the Payments & Purchases section of the Bethel School District website.

Hold Harmless

By signing this form it is agreed that:

The student will immediately report any damage, lost, or stolen devices.
If an iPad is lost, the full replacement of the iPad will be fined to the students account unless the iPad can be found.
If an iPad is stolen or damaged, fines will be placed on the students account to either replace or repair the iPad.*
All the accessories issued will be returned after the school year or when the student leaves Bethel School District.

iPad accessories include:

Apple-brand iPad 10w or 12w charging block
Apple brand charging cable
iPad Case

All issued items not returned will result in a fine on your student's account.

Insurance

The iPad Coverage Program is a fantastic optional opportunity to cover the cost of most mishaps that could happen to your student's iPad.

The program helps ease the burden or worry of financial hardship that may come up due to damage that may happen that require replacing the entire iPad. Examples of typical damages we see are:

Broken screen
Bent iPads
Natural disasters
Stolen iPads

The iPad Coverage Program will cover one school year and is non-refundable. This program does not cover the cord, case, or intentional damage to the iPad. Electing or declining coverage is required to receive your students iPad.

BVA also has a limited number of hotspots, keyboards, and stylus pens available for checkout. To inquire about availability, call the BVA office at 253-800-3100.

Step-By-Step Directions

Once you've successfully connected your iPad with the remote management systems, you'll see different apps downloading.

**Observing App Downloads:**
- Once you complete setup, your iPad will automatically populate with apps
- Note, the "self-service" app might take longer to appear compared to others. Using this platform, you can download any Bethel-provided applications
**Pre-installed Apps for BVA Students:**
- Several apps are pre-configured for BVA students, which include:
  - Bethel Portal
  - BVA Counseling website
  - Canvas
  - Chrome
  - Google Docs
  - Google Drive
  - Gmail
  - Notability
  - Secure Test
  - Slides
  - Student View
  - Zoom
- If any of the above apps are absent from your device, navigate to the "self-service" app to initiate their download
**Downloading Additional Apps:**
- To acquire other essential apps:
- Launch the "self-service" app
- Opt for the search bar and ideally select the "all" filter, which unveils every available app
- Browse through to identify any apps you might find useful or required for your coursework
**Consult with Teachers:**
- Communicate with your teachers - they might suggest specific apps for their classes.

Step By Step Directions

**Choose Language & Country:**
- Turn on or restart your iPad
- When prompted, select your desired language
- Choose your country
**Manual Setup & WiFi Connection:**
- Opt for the "set up manually" option
- From the list, select your Wi-Fi network and enter the password if required
- Wait a moment as your iPad may take a few minutes to activate
**Log into Remote Management:**
- Being a Bethel School District iPad, you'll be directed to a remote management system login
- Use the same login details as you would for the Bethel Portal
- Begin by entering your username
- Your password is structured as follows: the first three letters of your birth month, followed by a dash, your birth date (two digits), and finally your birth year (four digits). For instance, if you were born on January 15, 2005, your password would be "Jan-15-2005"
- Once entered, click "Next"
**Log into Your Apple ID:**
- Input the email address associated with your Apple ID. This is your student ID followed by "@appleid.bethelsd.org" (Note: This is the only instance where you'll use this particular email format)
- Click "Next"
- For your password or PIN, initially try "1234". If unsuccessful, test "2023" or "2024"
- If you still cannot access your account, send an email to Megan Buchanan or Mrs. Buchanan at "MBuchanan@bethelsd.org" for a reset
- Once logged in, click "Next" and then re-enter the temporary password ("1234" or whichever one worked for you)
**Set a New Password/PIN for Apple ID:**
- At this juncture, you'll be prompted to choose a new password or PIN. Opt for something memorable: perhaps your birth year, graduation year, or the current year
**Finalize Setup:**
- Your iPad will take a few moments to finalize the setup associated with your Apple ID. Once completed, your iPad is ready for use.
**Await BVA Apps Installation:**
- Post-setup, you'll notice various apps, specific to BVA, begin to populate on your device. Please note that the "self-service" app may take up to 24 hours to appear

You can now commence using your iPad and exploring the suite of tools and apps tailored for BVA students.
